About BykGrl
I love bicycling! My name is Lorraine and I live in the East Bay Area of Northern California. My husband and I are regular people, not very athletic, who were introduced to riding bicycles 10 years ago by some wonderful friends.
We found bicycle riding to be addictive: physically and mentally stimulating, challenging, something we could do alone or together, an activity which would allow each of us to learn and improve at our own pace and within our own gender-based strong points. This is the perfect couples activity! But it also is great alone, with parents, friends or children (even babies) and pets!
Did I tell you I love bicycling? We’ve also learned to love the outdoors, have traveled to many spots in the Bay Area and further that we had never known before even though living here all our lives, met new friends and discovered a love of wildlife, views, the diversity of environments, and good healthy exercise. We’ve learned to enjoy a tough climb up a mountain and a long flat stretch of road to just pedal and chill.
Here are my goals:
1. Research and write articles, invite comments, invite guest writers, initiate forums on solutions to bike seat butt pain and numbness (a “sore” subject), including bike fittings and adjustments, different saddles, bike shorts and other ideas. I’ll also explore bicycling nutrition, equipment, different types of bicycling, and, unfortunately, accidents.
2. Share the love of bicycling with you and encourage people to start riding, or increase their time on the bike.
3. Recommend some great places to ride. I’ll be posting some videos, and I’m also writing an e-book which should be ready soon, tentatively titled “Best Bike Rides for Couples in the East Bay, Northern California”. This will include my favorite rides including photos, maps, level of difficulty, ratings, where to start, where to stop for a picnic, where to pick up food to go, what to do afterwards, and lots more helpful information.
Please check back! Save me in your “favorites”, or subscribe to the RSS Feed so you will automatically receive my latest articles as they are posted. Let’s have fun biking together!

Hello there. I climbed the hill yesterday. I forgot to take my bloody camera with me. So imagine my delight at finding YOUR Videos so I can share it with my family and friends giving them a taste of the mountain. But I do not think ANY Video can quite capture the shock and surprise of meeting the wall. But let me tell you, 17% is nothing. If you fancy climbing, try Redwood Gulch !.
Cheers

Hiya bykgrl, Your site and videos are amazing, i live in England and have recently turned to cycling to help with my weight problem and it going great so far with just over 100 lbs loss and stlii going. Obviously im so envious of the fantastic biking weather you have and the fantastic wide open spaces to ride. One thing we do have in common though is the sore backside!!! I never had a pain like that when i was a youngster and i never needed any specialised shorts either.
Thanks for a look into your world, keep the videos coming and take care.
Lots of love, Martin xxx
